To optimise state resources, Al-Zour's operations were unified under Kuwait National Petroleum Company — bringing the country's refineries under a single technical and commercial umbrella.
Why operations were unified
Kuwait's refining assets were historically managed by separate entities, each with its own planning, procurement and technical functions. Running Al-Zour as a standalone company duplicated capability that already existed inside KNPC.
Unification puts crude allocation, product planning, turnaround scheduling and export logistics on one desk. A single planner can now decide where a barrel is best processed across the whole national system instead of optimising one refinery at a time.
For customers and partners, this means one counterparty, one set of technical standards and one accountable operator for Kuwait's refined product supply.
